‘TUPE’ stands for the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment), which sets out how employees’ rights are protected when a business, or part of a business, is transferred to a new owner or a service is outsourced.
Both the new and old employers in a transfer must follow the TUPE regulations or face consequences for non-compliance.
