Yvonne Addy

Yvonne jointly heads the firm’s Dispute Resolution team with Andrew Wheldon and is a highly experienced civil, commercial and property litigator, as well as an accredited mediator.

She draws on her extensive litigation background to guide clients through complex disputes efficiently and strategically, whether by litigation, arbitration or mediation and where necessary she pursues appeals and challenges to the highest courts and tribunals.

Yvonne’s practice spans a broad spectrum of disputes including company and commercial matters, property and construction disputes, employment claims and probate litigation. She works fiercely to achieve successful outcomes for her clients, and she has a diverse and dedicated client following.

Her experience includes acting for a foreign state in international arbitration, as well as regularly advising domestic and international trusts, corporations and high net worth individuals. Yvonne has been involved in cases attracting national media attention, and with reported cases including:

• Vertical Properties Limited v New Hampstead Garden Suburb Trust Ltd and Others [2010] UKUT 51 (LC).
• Hayim & Others v Couch [2009] EWHC 1040 (Ch) 1

A core strength of Yvonne’s practice lies in resolving complex disputes without recourse to trial. She has extensive experience guiding clients through negotiations and mediations in high-value and sensitive matters.

Yvonne is an ADR Group Accredited Civil and Commercial Mediator. She is valued for her calm, authoritative and pragmatic approach, and for her ability to identify the real drivers behind disputes and guide parties towards commercially workable and durable resolutions. Her extensive experience as a litigator enhances her effectiveness, enabling her to reality-test positions robustly and help parties assess litigation risk with clarity and confidence.

In addition to her contentious work, Yvonne maintains a strong commercial advisory practice, providing pragmatic, strategic advice designed to help clients avoid disputes and support their wider personal and business objectives
