Partner Alex Finney to Climb Kilimanjaro for Dementia Care

March 10, 2025

Alex Finney is preparing to take on the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Dementia Care (including Alzheimer’s disease).

Alex hopes to raise £20,000 by tackling the six-day trek at the end of May, with all proceeds going to dementia care charities.

Alex: “Dementia is a condition very close to my heart.

“I want to do what I can to support those living with dementia and their families with funding research for a better tomorrow.”

The expedition starts on 31 May 2025 when Alex flies from London to Tanzania to join her fellow fundraisers in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro in Marangu.

From there, the group will begin their 5,895-metre ascent to the summit by following the Marangu route, the oldest track on Kilimanjaro.

The Route leads the group through dense rainforests, across alpine meadows and around rocky ravines as they navigate Africa’s highest mountain.

The last leg of the trek will involve an 11pm wake up as Alex and the group prepare for the final push for the summit.

Guided only by torch light, the group will zigzag their way up a large scree slope, to reach Gilman’s Point in time to be rewarded with the spectacular view of the sun rising behind Mawenzi Peak.

The six-day itinerary is notoriously difficult because of the speed of the ascent and many people suffer from lack of acclimatisation.

Everyone at Muscatt Black Graf is very proud of Alex for taking on this amazing challenge to raise funds for such a brilliant cause.

We will be following Alex’s progress closely as she prepares for the trek and wish her the very best of luck!
